Bipedal / Anthromorphic form
Standing at a proud 6.0 feet or so in height, excluding the measurements of the two horns, you can see the scales on Phobos shimmer gently in the sunlight for they have a slight metallic gloss to them when clean. Red scales cover his entire body except for the underside, where black is seen from the chin down to his belly then down the length of most of his tail’s underside. As the dragon slowly walks over to a large rock, it can be noted that he is of a moderate build for one his age, which is attributed to favouring agility over raw strength. Therefore, barely a trace of excess fat can be found anywhere.
Four natural stripes that are horizontally across can be located on both upper-arms, with another four above the wrists and on the outside of his thighs. Only two stripes can be found on his lower-legs, with these two being the only stripes which go around the entire circumference. His cheeks have three vertical stripes that are quite thick and in a neat pattern, whilst five larger than normal black scales adorn his noseridge. Extending down the length of his neck are two stripes against the red scales on both sides. Two small, horizontal stripes right beneath the knuckle of each digit (topside) on his forepaws may also be seen, whilst another three larger ones also cover the dorsal surface of those two paws. The only remaining stripes are two vertical ones that are very slightly S-shaped down the length of his sides, measured from his armpits and down to his tailbase, with another four stripes like these on his back between the wings. These measure from the base of his neck to the tailbase. All stripes are black in colour.
Now resting on a rock with his wingarms fully extended to their maximum length, he catches the warmth of the morning sun within the thin yet mostly opaque leather membranes which provide great lift when flying. Then, with a flick of his spaded tail; he stretches out a footpaw behind him where a row of black scales that extend upward from each digit can be seen, straddling the dorsal surface for extra armour. He finally takes a short nap, to warm up for the day ahead.
Bipedal / Anthromorphic form – Summary of patterns
-
Since it can be hard to picture the patterns that are found on Phobos' body, I have listed them in dot-point form:
-
Four horizontal stripes across each upper-arm.
-
Four horizontal stripes above each wrist (topside).
-
Four horizontal stripes across each thigh (on the outside).
-
Two horizontal stripes around each lower-leg. These two stripes are also the only ones which around the entire circumference.
-
Three thick, vertical stripes on each cheek.
-
Two horizontal stripes down the neck against the red scales on each side.
-
Two small horizontal stripes (topside) beneath the knuckle of each digit on his forepaws.
-
Three horizontal stripes across the dorsal surface of each of his forepaws.
-
Two vertical stripes that are very slightly S-shaped down the length of his sides, measured from the armpits to the tailbase. There are also another four stripes like these on his back (between the wings), measuring from the base of his neck to the tailbase.
-
Five larger than normal black scales adorn his noseridge.
-
Each footpaw is adorned with rows of black scales extending upwards from each digit along the dorsal surface for extra armour. These, like the scales on his noseridge, also blend in with the surrounding red scales.
Jewellery
-
There are two, metallic earrings made of a platinum/iridium alloy in his left ear (silver in colour for those that don't know).
-
Another earring with a silver/blue luster to it is located in his right ear. This was given to him by his mate, Mazzeh Arrüen'dyr Deijai.
Quadruped / Natural form
Standing comfortably on all four paws with perked ears as he surveys the surroundings, this quadruped dragon is approximately 4.0 feet measured from the ground to the shoulders. Covering the sleek, agile looking and well toned body are burnished scales with the exception of the underside, where the much larger black scales absorb a higher proportion of light. All of the scales are similar in nature to the scales of the anthromorphic form – tough and excellent insulators which allow this dragon to withstand the extreme temperatures encountered in his natural environments. Of key interest in this regard are the black scales on the underside which are unusually large in size. They overlap each other in a similar fashion to the plate armour typically used by humans during the 15th century, providing much needed protection to the dragon who favours agility over raw strength when hunting prey.
With a sudden swishing of his tail, it can be immediately observed that there are many horizontal stripes traversing down the entire length of it. There are also four horizontal stripes across the upper-half of the forelegs and hindlegs, followed lower by two stripes covering the circumference just above each paw. Each of the paws themselves is adorned on the dorsal surface with black scales to provide extra armour. Looking up again, two vertical stripes that are very slightly S-shaped can be seen down the length of the dragon’s sides, measuring from the base of the neck to the tailbase. Another four of these slightly S-shaped stripes can also be found on the back, between the wingbases, also measuring from the base of the neck to the tailbase. Focusing on the face at last, it can be noted that there are three vertical stripes on the cheeks next to the fiery orange eyes, with several horizontal stripes down the neck against the red scales on each side.
Appearing satisfied with his environment, the dragon sprawls out on a rock and spreads his wings to catch the sun’s rays in the earthy-brown coloured membranes, whilst also making their sheer size apparent due to the amount of mass they have to lift.
